Even with professional packing, expert handling, and careful transportation, the possibility of transit damage — however small — exists in any move. Bestcare Movers takes a proactive approach to post-move damage inspection, establishing a clear and fair process for identifying, documenting, and resolving any damage that may have occurred during your relocation.
When Damage Inspection Takes Place
Post-move damage inspection begins during offloading. The Bestcare Movers crew leader and the client both observe items as they are removed from the truck and placed in the new property. Any item that appears to have sustained damage during transit is identified immediately, set aside for closer inspection, and noted by the crew leader before the job is closed.
A more thorough damage inspection takes place after unpacking is complete. This is when items that were wrapped and boxed can be fully assessed — fragile pieces unwrapped from their protective materials, electronics powered on and tested, furniture examined in full light for surface damage.
The Documentation Process
When damage is identified, Bestcare Movers’ process requires a written damage report to be completed. The report records the item description, the nature of the damage, the estimated replacement or repair value, and photographic evidence of the damage alongside the item’s pre-move condition documentation from the final inventory.
This report is signed by the crew leader and countersigned by the client. A copy is provided to the client, and the original is retained by Bestcare Movers as the basis for any insurance or compensation process.
Fairness and Accountability
Bestcare Movers’ damage inspection process is built on a principle of fairness. Pre-existing damage — noted during the final inventory at the origin — is clearly distinguished from transit damage. Items not packed by Bestcare Movers and found damaged are assessed within the terms established in the service agreement.
